They're Here!!!

In three days we delivered 17 baby goats and only lost one!  I'm a happy gal. We had a lot of singles this year... they were breeding just about the time my mother passed and I didn't have their mineral licks out there like I should have. Oh well, there are still plenty to sell and I will be milking in four weeks!!  Two more mommas will have their babies by the weekend and then we will be done until the first of March when five more moms plus Jerling will finish off our kidding/calving season.  I'll post pictures as soon as I get more Aleeve and coffee in me LOL.

Well now that was a joke.  I just took about 30 pictures and they are all a complete blur except for these few... will have to try it again when the little jumping beans are wore out .

These last four have already been sold as bottle babies ~  some people believe that makes them a better goat... me personally, I don't think God gave us the instincts that he gave those old momma goats and you get a healthier baby if you leave them with her. Not to mention you get more sleep. :)

Don't they just melt your heart?

  2. Ah, thanks Cindy... I think I am becoming a recluse. LOL! I sit down to write and then say "Naw, not today.." Maybe it's the weather. We are praying for your family as we know that this is a difficult time of year for you guys. Much love and prayers sent your way.

  3. Shelly - not sure if you remember me, but I am an old friend of Vicky's. (Haven't talked to her in some time!) However, came across your blog and am happy to hear that you and your family are doing well. I also wish the same for Vicky!
I saw that your mom passed - I am sorry to hear of that. I have been wondering how she has been and how things are going with Vicky. It appears that your mom continued on the path that she was living when I knew her. It's unfortunate that some choose the path they do...
Hugs to you and your family and I do hope that I am able to catch up with Vicky sometime soon.

  4. Hi Jen! I could never forget you! Vicky is doing well. Dating a really nice guy who has a little boy that Vic just adores. She is still at the same house. Thank you for your sympathy with my mom... I have had to just come to the conclusion that there was nothing I could have done to help her and in truth there was nothing she could do to help herself. Once that booze gets a hold of you there is just nothing stopping it. It's a shame really. It was great to hear from you. take care!
